Recently my husband and I have started eating better. We have been buying fresh fruits and veggies and fresh cuts of meat. We stay away from anything processed. I cut out most dairy from my diet as well as any refined sugars and white flours. But, it is killing out budget! Any tips would be much appreciated. I am feeling so much better and have lost weight and I don’t want to go back but financially I don’t know what to do.

Steve T asked:
I live in upstate new york, washington county. Our rent is 650.00 per month. My husband and I live together. We are both disabled my husband has an incurable cancer and is on his 4th round of radiation. Our son lived with us and moved out when he met someone on the computer. He moved to ohio.Washington county Hud wants to lower our share of the rent to 409.00 we had paid 441.00. Since our son left we lost 680.00 per month in rent. HUD only wants to lower it 32.00 dollars per month what a joke. I Have written letters and made a phone call and told them that I disagree with there decision and wanted to have the papers mailed to me for my reasons for what I believe is correct. The woman put me on hold for 15 minutes and never came back on the phone so I hung up. I have done much research on this matter as there are websites that you can look at. The only thing I can’t find is a worksheet on how they figure what you the tenant pays and what they pay. I know a person that gets only a couple of hundred less per month then we do and she pays less than 80.00 per month and has two bedrooms. The HUD office told me since our son left we have to have the budget for a one bedroom apartment. This makes no sense. They have never been able to give me a straight answer why our rent is so high{our share} . I am honest and get the dirty end of the stick every time . If anyone knows any thing about this please answer back or if you know how I can contact please respond . thank you

Mike W asked: Hello everyone, I’m Mike - I’m 20 years old. I am setting up a personal budget worksheet but need some help with itemizing my savings to be a reasonable amount. I currently bring in $34,155 a year gross — and $2,469.25 a month NET. My current monthly expenses are shown below and I need some help filling in the blanks… Thanks
Rent - $750/month
Water - $30/month
Light - $60/month
Food - $200/month
Directv - $80/month
Renters Ins. - $30/month
Clothes - $100/month
I have $1,219.25 at the end of each month left over after general expenses — you will see I don’t have cell phone, telephone, car insurance, and fuel.. that’s one benefit, company vehicle etc etc.
General Savings - $XXX.XX/month
House Savings - $XXX.XX/month (plan to buy a house in 5 years.. thinking $375-$500)
IRA/401k/Retirement - $XXX.XX/month (I do plan to retire and pass my business down some day
)
Savings for school - $XXX.XX/month (Since high school graduation I have been focusing on the growth of my company, but taking classes that are pertinent to my business, obtaining all certifications, licenses, attending many training seminars, studying to become a state certified horticulturist etc etc. since there is not a school locally for a horticulture degree, I have researched and found a very well known school’s curriculum and I have purchased the books off of amazon.com for a very good price, so I have been studying that for the knowledge….. my plan is in approximately a year to pursue a degree in business on top of working…ughh)
Vacation - $XXX.XX (thinking $100??)
Now ofcourse I expect in 2-3 years to be bringing in approximately 40-50k a year and can then be a lot more flexible with spending, but I am a firm believer in starting early especially with saving.

silent.peace asked:
Are there any websites out there which can help me create a budget for my home and family? Perhaps something with an automated worksheet? I need some major help with this and am hoping to find something where I can just punch in the numbers and have it calculate several different options including a savings plan. Also…are there any good budget/finance programs out there that are freeware? And last but not least…has anyone ever used a credit counseling agency which helps you pay off your credit card debt? If so…what did you think? Was it easier and faster to pay your credit debt this way? Was it less expensive? Sorry for all the questions…I just really need to get myself on track and am at a total loss. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and hopefully offer your help and advice.

cassie h asked: Part 1 - A family of 4 comes to the amusement park. There are two adults and two children (under the age of 11). They qualify for a special family rate of $155.80. The clerk tells them that a child’s ticket always costs $8 less than an adult’s ticket. How much is each adult ticket and how much is each child’s ticket?
1.Define your variables. You want to work things out so that you only have one variable in an equation. Hint: Let a = adult ticket price. In other words, you must be able to define the price of a child’s ticket in terms of the adult ticket price.
Child’s ticket price in the family plan = ?
2.Write one equation using the variables above that shows the total of the family of four equaling $155.80.
There are two adults and two children. Write and solve the equation make sure to show all of your work.
Answer: Adult ticket price is $ _________ and Child’s ticket price is $ ___________.
Part 2 - You want to use the 50% off coupon for your ticket today but are planning to come back again another day. You are a student but you cannot get the $5 off the two-day passes or the one-day pass if you use your 50% off coupon. Which is the better deal?
•Buying a ticket at 50% off today and then purchasing a new one-day ticket at the student price tomorrow. Show your work to prove option one. Make sure to round to the nearest tenths place.
•Buying a two-day pass and not using the coupon at all.
Look at the given information in the table for Option 2. Is buying a two-day pass and not using the coupon at all a better deal?
Which option you would choose and explain how you arrived at your answer?
Part 3 - A business wants to give each of its employees a free ticket to the amusement park and has budgeted $1200 for tickets. Write an inequality and solve to find the maximum number of 1-day, adult tickets that can be bought. When you solve, remember that there is no such thing as “part” of a ticket.
Inequality: _________ Answer: ___________ tickets
Suppose the business decided to buy the tickets in groups of 10 tickets. Write a single inequality and solve to find the maximum number of tickets that can be bought this way.
Inequality: _________ Answer: ___________ tickets
Which of the two deals is the better buy? Explain your answer.

Jose T asked: I’m looking for a way to make the envelope system of budgeting work for me, but in the modern day world. I’d like to get multiple checking accounts if not accounts under one checking with debit cards from all of them (lets say 5). Then divide my check appropriately to each checking sub checking and use particular debit cards if its groceries, me, school, debt, etc. Is there a bank out there cares about thei customers enough so that they allow their customers to open multiple accounts to budget better? Thanks in advance for your help.
I currently use an XLS worksheet to budget and i have budgetted myself for 12months in advance. It changes as i go but i would like to be able to seperate accounts.
